Okay, so I'm running late with my Spring Exchange mini and I figure a WIP thread might help keep me motivated and get some good feedback coming in.
So, here's where we're at so far.
I took this photo just after finishing his face. Pretty happy with how it's looking, though I might do a little glazing to perk the colour up a bit. Maybe some final highlights as well. I've tried to shade his left side of his face a bit more than the right, which I think looks quite cool with the green eye.
These three photos show where I'm at with the coat and hair.
I think the hair needs a few touch ups of the highlights and I'll probably keep working on glazing it with chestnut ink.
The coat I'm pretty happy with, and I think after a bit of shading, some more glazing with Clear Purple and some final highlights I'll move on to picking out the embossing on the thighs with silver.
I'm totally open to all comments and critiques. I'd really like to do my absolute best on this, especially as it's going to be a bit late. I want the wait to be worth it.
I'd finished painting this fellow quite a while ago, but I finally did something with his base. He'll probably get some snow on it as well at some point as I'm intending to use him as a Frostgrave thug, but I'll wait until I've got a few to do and mix up a big batch of snow.
I think the photos may have ended up a tad too bright, as some of the shadows don't seem as deep. Still, better than too dark.
I was trying to make sure that my black was reading as black and not grey here, so let me know how you think I went with that (or anything else you'd like to comment on).
I've got a few of these Em4 Dwarfs (formerly from Grenadier's Fantasy Warriors boxed set) that I bought on a whim. They're ridiculously cheap, so if you're getting something from Em4 anyway then there's no reason not to check them out.
Anyway, it's a 26-year-old one-piece plastic mini and it definitely shows in the quality of the cast; there's a hole in the mini between the chest plate and the beard (this is on every cast, not just this one) and there's a large lug on his back that I couldn't be bothered removing considering it was a 50 cent mini. If I were after a fix, I'd consider slinging a spare shield or a scabbard over his back.
For the money though, not a bad sculpt and he painted up pretty nicely in the end. Definitely a good option for building a Dwarf army, and if I didn't already have a bunch of WFB Dwarfs I'd order another 100 or so of Em4's.
NEWS FLASH! A Mad Goblin has been seen wandering our peaceful streets, allegedly armed with a sack full of explosive devices & waving one about while laughing maniacally.
The local constabulary will soon have this Mad Person in custody. Public laughter is not tolerated in these parts:
...with a slightly better look at the bomb:
...the Little Loony will soon be deported to distant Indianapolis. He's destined/doomed to be a hired sword in an all Orc & Goblin Mordheim Campaign....AND good riddance!
Just a relatively quick tabletop job, probably for Frostgrave or Song of Blades. Finished in two days' painting sessions while working on other stuff.
Tried a glaze of Clear Magenta on the skin, which I really liked. Might start doing that more often for flesh, really warms it up.
As always, the gore effects are done with Tamiya clear red and Army Painter Quickshade ink.
C&C welcome!
hey guys
Some my converted Yeti painted as Hominids/primates instaead as good (snow) yetis.
Ready to fight versus my prehistoric warriors....
More on my blog if necessary (google translator is your friend).
[MOD]Please use the full SKU and name of Reaper minis in the titles of your Show Off threads, per forum guidelines. You can find this information on the blister card or in the online store. I also like to give credit to the sculptor in a tag, so people can find their favorites.
Posting Non-Reaper Figures
When you post in Show off, please use the topic title line for the name of your creation, and use the tags for the manufacturer. That way, you're descriptive and search-friendly at the same time while giving credit where it's due. Use Tags liberally, for manufacturer, name, part number, modifications done, etc. These help our members find your model!

We have a high volume of posts generated from this challenge, which is great! But it's also creating a lot of work for the mods. Ladystorm has already urged folks to comply with these guidelines.[/MOD]
FAQ
Reaper only? - No.
If going on vacation, can I paint a mini(s) ahead to cover that time frame? - Yes.
Are speed paints acceptable - Yes.
Can it be a mini started previously? - Yes.
Based or unbased? - Yes.
Do minis for exchanges count? - Yes.
NEW RULE - Size Equivilancy
Medium and smaller = 1 ea
Simple Terrain (plain floors, walls) = 1ea
Complex Terrain (http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/Terrain/latest/03518 or such) = 2 ea
Large (Giants and the like) = 2 ea
Huge (Most dragons, Demon Minotaur Lord, etc) = 3 ea
Bigger ("Tianot," Kally, Khanjirra, etc) = month quota
Update on size rules, due to the variable nature of a CAV I compare them against a generic 28mm figure and the Avatar large figure. I take height and bulk into considering if it is worth 1 or 2 figures.
Currently - If it's not in this list, it counts as 1.
Thunderbird
Emperor
Ronin
Simba
Tiamat
Katana
Tyrant
Starhawk
Regent
Cataphract
Silverback
Kraken
If you have a question on the size, please post it here, and I'll address them individually.
Much like last year, the idea is to help those of us that normally paint VERY little, to start painting more.
You challenge begins...now!
And Our Mantra:
4 for the exchanges, something new to try
12 for the monsters, who in the dungeons moan
7 for the competition, to please the judges eye
19 for the table top, which will set the tone
9 for the players, doomed to see their characters die
One for the master painter on his ergonomic throne
In the well lit studio where no shadows lie
one tag to hue them all, one tag to bind them
one tag to bring them all and in the forum find them.

The objective:
To paint 52+ minis throughout the course of the year via monthly quota
(each monthly thread will have the quota listed as well as the master list)
Reward:
Last year a badge was discussed, this year I hope to -actually- have that done.
Or possibly - POSSIBLY for those at reapercon, a "Challenger" badge ribbon for those who stick it out through reapercon - missing no more than 1 month.
What qualifies:
Darn near anything!
Reaper/non-reaper!
Any material!
Shelf of shame minis from ages long forgotten!
Exchange minis!
Speed paints!
Armies! (Though I'd encourage perhaps something outside the army as well)
Any Size!
Based/unbased!
Etc! (I think that covers everything)
An "*" Denotes special monthly details in the following spoiler due to possibly more time being needed to obtain pieces. - Tagging all Show-offs with "RPChallenge" helps immensely in finding the figures.

I started to put this in the acquisitions thread. But then I didn't. At some point I purchased all the minis that will be involved. But not at all recently.
The story:
I was in my garage. I was shifting some boxes and moving stuff. In the middle of this I spotted a box labeled "TRAVELLER" on its end, written in blue marks-A-lot. I think, "What? No...
Why are any of my old Traveller books out here?
The garage is no place for books I don't want ruined!"
So I investigate. Of course it was the bottom-most box.
And this...
...is what I found.
The old Peter Pan peanut butter jar goes to the recycle bin.
The rest is to be investigated and unboxed. This thread will be dedicated to the...
Lost But Now Found
...minis forgotten, buried, and rediscovered. This is meant to be a shared thread. Everyone else is welcome to post their joyful finds, archaeological digs, recovered artifacts, & ancient acquisitions that may come to light.
I have a white plastic bag to un-knot... (bottom right in picture).
This is the first time I've posted my work and I'm rather proud of how they turned out.
I painted this group of minis as a gift for a friend as he is a long-time fan of MouseGuard. Much like this is my first time posting my work, these were the first minis I painted in over a year and I only had about 40 completed minis under my belt before this.
77286: Mousling King and Princess
Both minis were inspired by the animated Robin Hood movie Disney put out long ago. The rust on my skills is very evident on the princess; she was the second mini I painted out of the group. If I had to do it over, I'd re-think the fur colors. The king was painted later in the sequence and is much better.
77287: Mousling Thief and Assassin
The assassin was an attempt at a medieval mousling Boba Fett. I'm pretty happy with the shading on the cloak and scarf but the NMM attempt on the sword is pretty bad. LTPK #3 is next on my to-do. I didn't have any particular inspiration for the thief so I decided to roll my own scheme and see where it went. The yellow sack looked horrible at first but I kept working up the layers and I'm pretty happy with the end result.
77288: Mousling Sorcerer and Samurai
The samurai was another custom scheme. Shading white and black is hard. That's definitely something to work on in the future. The sorcerer's scheme comes from Mickey Mouse in Fantasia. Believe it or not, I attempted to shade the red... At least the beard turned out awesome :)
77289: Mousing Ranger and Yeoman
This is probably my favorite duo out of the bunch. Disclaimer: I'm not entirely sure which is the ranger and which is the yeoman. To me, the ranger is the one with the hat. Like the king and princess, the ranger comes from the animated Robin Hood. He was the first mini I finished in this group. He has the same fur problem as the princess. Fortunately the green and red-orange make up for the fur. The yeoman, a.k.a. Mouse Solo, has much better fur. I could have added some other colors on the weapons, particularly the arrow, but I liked the idea of using one color that roughly matched Han's blaster.
77290: Mousling Druid and Beekeeper
Rounding out the group is this pair. The beekeeper was another custom scheme. I wanted to see how the blue from the king and the green of the assassin looked on the same mini. Pretty good IMO. The druid was inspired by Wicket from Star Wars. I'm really happy with how the cloak and clasp turned out. This would be my favorite out of the entire bunch if I had just paid more attention to the final dry-brush on the face. That missing bit by the hood really irks me.
I did this last year for a Savage Worlds League of Extraordinary Gentlemen: 1970's game but I just joined these forums. Thought I would share...
I saw a few other guys build these fantastic looking weathered trailers on a Google search one day and thought I would give it a shot and make my own. Just do a Google search for "28mm trailer park" and their images show up.
Just some simple dry brushed Ape Demons. Metal washers used as the bases with a little sand glued to them, painted and dry brushed as well.
