I've heard multiple opinions, and am interested in what many think. Every game I have been in runs mainly on house rules anyway.

Weight Loss Support Thread
OK, after some searching, the last time we did a weight loss support thread was over five years ago. It didn't seem to make sense to threadomancy that since it is long out of date. Anyway, I need to lose weight. I'm at my highest point since 2000, I'm out of shape, I'm struggling to do some of the things I love like fencing and backpacking, and I am unhappy about it.
My plan for losing weight it to track my calories using the Tap&Track app on my iPod. I also want to increase my aerobic exercise. Now I know from experience that I do way better at this sort of thing, if I know that other's are holding me accountable, essentially I will disappoint myself but hate disappointing others, which is why I am starting this thread. My intention will be to post my weekly progress or lack there-of in this post, editing it as I go. If you wish, I'd like to invite you to start your own tracking post in this topic. Maybe if we stand together, we can help each other succeed. If you have no issues with weight, please through your support to those who need it. I've been yo-yo'ing my whole life and i am sick of it.
My goal is to weigh 225 lb (102 Kg)* by ReaperCon 2015. That gives me 43 weeks to lose 51 pounds, which means I need to do between 1 and 1.5 pounds a week. I haven't been that low since I was 24 years old.
* This is a weight that my doctor and I decided would be best for me given my barrel chest build.
So here goes:
Start date: June 20 (I already started but am just now having issues keeping it going alone)
Height: 6' 3"
Age: 43
Gender: Male
Goal Weight: 225 lb (102 Kg)
Initial Weight: 276 lb (125 Kg)
Progress:
- 6/30/2014: 274 lb (124.28 Kg) (-2 net lb)
- 7/8/2014: 272.5 lb (123.6 Kg) (-3.5 net lb)
- 7/22/2014: 276 lb (0 net lb)
- 729/2014: 274 lb (-2 net lb)
- 8/5/2014: 270 lb (-6 net lb)
So, who is excited about ReaperCon 2017

What's on TV?
Well? What show's been on the tube lately at your house?
I've been watching the first season of The Fall Guy. Had a strange attachment to it when I was a very wee lad. Like, prior to preschool. and I guess I've figured out why: There're some crazily nonsensical stuff happening in this show. And it's really fun. In the second episode, Lee Majors jumped out of one airplane, sans parachute, in order to purposefully land on another plane. As a stunt preview for a movie producer.
Then he did it again at the end of the episode.
Plus Lee Majors sings the theme song. I need to call my dad to find out if Lee Majors really was the Walker-era Chuck Norris of the 80s.
Footnote: I'm in love with Heather Thomas.
Sparrow paints Yephima
So I'm going to try to keep up with a new WIP. I started painting Yephima yesterday and I hope to finish her by the end of the month. Here is my progress so far:
I first put down a thin layer blue liner and then based her skin in MSP Ashen Blue and her armor and hair pieces are MSP Ancient Bronze. I missed a couple of bits of armor that I need to go back and do.
I haven't yet decided what other colors I want to do on the rest of her. I'll normally plan this out ahead of time but when I went to my notebook nothing was written down on her page. Oops. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

60066 Mites x2
Here's my latest newbie WIP. Trying to take some of what I learned from the Bones LTPK2 and apply it here. These little guys are for my current Pathfinder campaign. As you can see here, I've started on the prototype to see if I can get the skin coloration (primarily) and the rest of the scheme looking more or less right. I intend to have fun with these guys as they are meant to just be sort of the red-headed step children of the fey world (at least among the evil fey anyway). Needed two sets of these guys, so normally you only get 3 in a package.
Will get around to dotting the eyes of the prototype mite, and am thinking a bright green for the cloak, but not sure how that will look next to the blue skin. Trying to avoid red though simply because red and blue are always my go to colors, and want something a little different this time around. Going with the blue skin though because per the lore, they are in fact blue. Think of them as evil smurfs. ;) Anyway, base coat on the skin is Heather Blue for those who are wondering.
Thanks for taking a look!

Help me Buglips*the*Goblin, you're my only hope.
Actually, I'll take advice/answers from anyone who can give 'em....
Last night, my trusty bottle of Ral Partha AD&D Aged Metal (77-901) finally gave it's last for the cause. It is no more.
What's a good, (hopefully) still in production, modern color equivalent?
Ral Partha King of the Realm
got this one finished last night. Not quite so sure about the quality of of the photos, but when they are shrunk down to 500 x 500 they look a lot better. Also with him holding up that sword it takes up so much space in the photo itself that everything looks a bit smaller than I'd want it to. Oh well.
In any case, this is the King of the Realm, a figure from Dennis Mize that originally came in a package of kings from different genres. There was this guy,

then another one that I painted previously,
http://www.miniatures-workshop.com/lostminiswiki/index.php?title=Image:03-006_front.JPG
then an African warrior king and an oriental mage. There was then also a corresponding pack of ladies from the same set of genres, another one of which I'd recently painted.
Anyhoos, this one is the barbarian king archetype:

and he had a big, empty, round shield so tried to put a dragon on it:

So hoping he came out okay.

Trans-Rigel University Archaeology Expedition
Here we see Dr. Cora l'Tionne, mercenary archaeologist operating out of Trans-Rigel University. In the background are Med and Hex, her servitor bots. On the left is Hotep, a sentient automation she picked up during the course of her Sidereal Egyptology masters program and who is now her devoted bodyguard. On the right is professor Physarum, lecturer in Antiquities and her post-doc thesis advisor.
All figures are by Reaper Miniatures, converted and painted by me. They are intended for use in the game "Rogue Stars" by Osprey Publishing.

Maledrakh's 77198 Barrow Rats
Continuing the creature feature, here are the great big Barrow Rats:
Not quite undead but thoroughly nasty anyhow.
These will see use as wardogs in Frostgrave.

Maledrakh's 77327 Hell Cat
Next up is the Bones Hell Cat. Your typical molten lavacreature with broken crust exterior.
In Bones the detail is a bit shallow for my taste, which makes it more difficult for me being a sloppy drybrusher to get a "clean" look to the crusty bits, especially when the topmost black coat was a tad too heavy.
Not my finest work, but passable. It certainly looks much better when not magnified like in the pictures...

Sharkbelly's Projects
Hey all, I thought I'd start a thread to share some of the other things that I have been painting. I started painting models around 25 years ago, mostly to be used for D&D. In the late 90s, though, I got introduced to Warhammer.
I eventually painted up three big armies (Empire, Ogres, and Undead) but it was pirates and the nautical theme that really grabbed me. I am working on six smallish armies of Warhammer or Age of Sigmar, but I have also added lots of terrain and other models from Reaper.
Here is a quick pic of a bunch of the models and terrain. I can go into more details later.

Darkspace Hasami (Soda Pop Miniatures)
Here's Darkspace Hasami, which I finished today. She's a character from Soda Pop Miniature's Relic Knights game. This is the cosplay version of Hasami who works for an alternate faction, in this case, the Noh Empire. The costume is based off Ryuko Matoi's battle outfit from Kill la Kill (a very weird anime). The connection is that regular Hasami (hasami means "scissors" in Japanese) uses a giant pair of scissors, and Ryuko uses a "scissor blade," which is half of a giant pair of scissors (a scissor?). I had to watch a few episodes to learn that and figure out what was even going on with her outfit.
The miniature is in the new resin material, which I think is produced by Prodos Games. It's definitely superior to the PVC they were using before, but is not without its faults. I painted the majority of the miniature at ReaperCon 2016, using the limited edition MSP Ghostly Moss. Other dominant colors are P3 Coal Black, MSP Clear Magenta, VGC Purple Ink and MSP Olive Skin Triad. A special shout-out to Adrift, who suggested the MSP Clear Magenta (he described it as Victoria's Secret Pink) for her panties which looked so great I used it in a bunch of other spots as well. I had a fun time getting a nice smooth blend on the scissors, but am not usually interested in spending that much time on minis.
